2bell peppersCut in half through the stem, seeds removed
4ozShredded CheeseI used Cheddar but Provolone would be nice too
1cBeef Broth
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Add the ground beef and thinly sliced sirloin to a hot pan and cook about half way through. You should see some golden browned edges and that just adds to the flavor. Remove to a bowl. The meat will cook the remaining time in the oven.
To the same hot pan, add butter, onions and mushrooms, sauteeing until the onions and mushrooms are tender.
Add the meat mixture back to the pan.
Next, add the ketchup, Worcestershire, salt, pepper, and beef broth into the pan.
Slice the peppers in half and remove the seeds and excess membranes. I leave the stem intact.
Divide the mixture evenly between the peppers and top with the shredded cheese. I used cheddar today but any melting cheese you enjoy would work.
I baked mine uncovered for about 30 minutes and then covered with foil for the remaining 15 minutes. Cook until the peppers are tender and the cheese is golden.
Allow to sit for about 5 minutes before serving...it's HOT! :)
