FOR THE VEGGIES:
1tspOil
1/2cOnioncut into 1/2" pieces
1/2cRed Bell Peppercut into 1/2" pieces
1/2cGreen Bell Peppercut into 1/2" pieces
FOR THE MARINADE / SAUCE:
1/4cBrown Sugar
1/2cLow Sodium Soy Sauce
1-2tspSesame OilOPTIONAL
1/2tspBaking Soda
1/4tspGround Gingerto taste
1/8tspMinced Garlic OR Garlic Powderto taste
Srirachato taste
FOR THE STEAK:
1tspOilfor cooking
1/2lbSteakwe used Top Round
2 Tablespoons of the above marinade/sauce mixture
FOR SERVING + GARNISH:
Cooked White Rice
Green Onionssliced, for garnish
White Sesame Seedsfor garnish
Instructions
Cut the steak while partially frozen for the easiest and cleanest slices.
Whisk together the marinade and add two tablespoons to the steak. Reserve the remainder to make the sauce.
Prep the veggies and saute over medium high heat in 1 tsp of oil. Remove to a plate.
Add another 1 teaspoon of oil and quickly brown the steak on one side over high heat. Add the veggies back along with the remaining marinade/sauce. The steak will finish cooking at this time.
The sauce should thicken quickly, within a minute or two. Remove from the heat. It's important not to overcook the steak, so work fast.
Serve over white rice and garnish with green onions and white sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
